Juneteenth Festival of the Carolinas
The Juneteenth Festival of the Carolinas was started to share the history of slavery and to commemorate its ending. The major intent of the festival is to examine the cultural heritage of slaves and their descendants through art, education, and research. Our goal is not to recreate the past but to cultivate the true spirit of freedom.
On the last Wednesday of every other month, we sponsor a casual gathering for our neighborhood Merchants to meet and mingle. We have drinks, share news, sponsor giveaways and match names with faces. If you own a business in Plaza Midwood, please join us! Become a Member
April 20-22, 2018: BOOM Charlotte is the city’s artist-led showcase of experimental/contemporary performance and visual art. We bring together local and national acts through a collaborative weekend of performance in the Plaza-Midwood neighborhood. BOOM celebrates the wealth of innovative original work created in our region and across the country, and exposes Charlotte audiences to new styles they may not have otherwise discovered or appreciated. Call it alternative. Call it fringe. With BOOM, we’re creating the fusion of creativity and community in our communal backyard.
