On April 8, 9 & 10, 2016, Que-OS, who brought you Pecha Kecha Charlotte & Quasimodo, will premier BOOM, Charlotte’s first artist and community-led annual showcase of contemporary performance and visual art. BOOM will bring together local and national acts through a collaborative weekend of performance in the Plaza-Midwood neighborhood utilizing local business spaces and performance venues. This carefully curated compilation of visual and performing arts will integrate the local community and expose Charlotte to the wealth of innovative original work created in our region and across the country.

BOOM performers will consist of five local performance groups: Carlos Cruz, Sarah Emery (former Artistic Dir. of Moving Poets Charlotte), On Q Productions, Taproot and XOXO (formerly Machine Theater). The five core groups will each invite one additional performance group from around the country, from New York to Los Angeles. There will be ~ 36 shows throughout the weekend. Additionally BOOM will include art installations, street performances and music in surrounding venues and public spaces.

By staging art and community experiences in the small venues and “leftover” spaces like alleys, parking lots etc., BOOM would in effect be a celebration of what is unique and valuable about Plaza Midwood and surrounding areas: – a friendly, walkable, lively and distinct neighborhood – and a natural home for culture, creativity and community.

BOOM is grassroots and community driven, and needs your support and participation.
